Definition of Water and Dust Resistance Ratings
Water and dust resistance ratings refer to the ability to prevent water and dust from entering internal structures, thereby reducing damage to components and motherboards.
Our products’ IP protection ratings are tested under controlled laboratory conditions, complying with IEC 60529 and GB/T 4208-2017 standards.
The following scenarios are tested under normal temperature and pressure conditions, defined as: temperature 15-35℃, relative humidity 25-75%, atmospheric pressure 86-106kPa (standard atmospheric pressure is 101.325kPa).
Water and Dust Resistance Ratings
| Protection Rating | Definition | Application Scope |
|---|---|---|
| IP54 | Cannot completely prevent dust ingress, but the amount of dust entering will not affect the normal operation or safety of the device; Water-resistant, water splashing against the enclosure from any direction shall have no harmful effect, water flow rate does not exceed 10L/min, test duration is 10 minutes. | Splash and water resistant. Can be worn during exercise (exposure to sweat) and short-term rain (not heavy rain). Not suitable for extremely dusty environments. Not suitable for water sports, showering, saunas, or any activities involving immersion or prolonged exposure to humid environments. |
| IP55 | Cannot completely prevent dust ingress, but the amount of dust entering will not affect the normal operation or safety of the device; Water-resistant, water projected via a nozzle (6.3mm) against the enclosure from any direction shall have no harmful effect, water flow rate is 12.5L/min, test duration is 3 minutes. | Splash and water resistant. Can be worn during exercise (exposure to sweat) and short-term rain (not heavy rain). Not suitable for extremely dusty environments. Not suitable for water sports, showering, saunas, or any activities involving immersion or prolonged exposure to humid environments. |
| IP67 | No dust ingress; Short-term water-resistant, can withstand accidental immersion in 1-meter deep water for 30 minutes under normal temperature and pressure. | Can withstand short-term immersion within 1 meter, but submerging the device is not recommended. Can be worn during exercise (exposure to sweat) and used in rainy weather (not heavy rain). Not suitable for extremely dusty environments. Not suitable for high-speed water activities, showering, saunas, or improper usage scenarios involving depths exceeding 1 meter or immersion exceeding 30 minutes. |
| IP68 | No dust ingress; Short-term water-resistant, can withstand accidental immersion in 2-meter deep water for 2 hours under normal temperature and pressure. Water resistance performance is higher than IPX7. | Can withstand short-term immersion, but do not use the product beyond a depth of 2 meters underwater. Can be worn during exercise (exposure to sweat) and used in rainy weather (not heavy rain). Not suitable for extremely dusty environments. Not suitable for high-speed water activities, showering, saunas, or any activities involving prolonged immersion. |
Note
IPXX is a product safety protection rating standard that defines a device’s ability to resist water and solid foreign objects. The two digits following IP indicate the protection level: the first digit (0-6) indicates protection against solid particles, from large objects to dust; the second digit (0-8) indicates protection against water immersion, from vertical water droplets to high-pressure underwater environments.
Sweat resistance means that the product’s surface material can resist sweat, but it does not mean that the product can be immersed in sweat. The sweat resistance performance of the product is tested under our laboratory conditions and meets the corresponding reliability test standards.
Precautions
The protective performance of the product is not permanent and may decrease due to daily wear and tear. It is recommended to wipe and clean the product after exercise to remove any residues.
The following situations may affect the protective performance of the product and should be avoided. Damage caused by these situations is not covered under warranty:
- Cleaning the device with an ultrasonic cleaner or abrasive cleaners.
- Dropping the product from a height or subjecting it to other impacts.
- Disassembling or repairing the product by an unauthorized Wapik service provider.
- Exposing the headphones to liquids other than fresh water, sweat, and pool water, especially corrosive liquids.
- Prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, or using or storing the product in high-temperature places such as inside a car.
- Charging the product when it is wet.
